| Judges We're honored to welcome the Blastwave FX Sound Design Competition judges: | 2009 Academy Award Winner Richard King
| After a career in painting, picture and sound editing, and Off-Broadway sound design, Richard King now works exclusively in film sound design and editing. He has worked with such directors as Nicolas Roeg, M. Night Shyamalan, Robert Altman, Paul Thomas Anderson, William Friedkin, Peter Weir, Steven Spielberg, and Christopher Nolan. In 2003, Richard received the Academy Award and the British Academy Award for sound design on MASTER & COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD, and in 2005 he received an Academy Award nomination for his work on WAR OF THE WORLDS. Most recently he took home the 2009 Academy Award for Best Sound Editing on DARK KNIGHT. | Golden Reel Nominee Charles Deenen | In a career that has spanned more than twenty-three years, Charles Deenen has leant his hand to over 200 games, numerous films, and dozens of film trailers. Despite all this, Charles has remained steadfastly loyal at Electronic Arts where he’s currently working as Sr. Director of Audio. Here he’s combining his fascination of fast cars with a seasoned history in games. Alongside games and long-format sound design, Charles continues to contribute sound design work to Hollywood's trailer advertising arm. | 2000 Academy Award Winner Dane Davis | Dane A. Davis, as Sound Designer and Supervising Sound Editor, has completed more than ninety feature films since 1984 including Drugstore Cowboy, Boogie Nights, the Matrix Trilogy, The Last Mimzy, Ghost Rider, Speed Racer and The Day the Earth Stood Still. He received Golden Reel awards for Treasure Planet, Gotti and The Matrix. He received an Academy Award and British Academy Award for his work on The Matrix. Dane has also overseen and contributed to many games over the last decade including Wolverine, Monsters vs. Aliens, Hellgate London (MPSE Golden Reel Award Winner) and Doom 3 (using much of his own vocal performance). Dane is the founder and owner of Danetracks Inc, a post production sound facility started in 1987. His columns for “Post Scripts” on the history and culture of sound design for Digidesign can be accessed via the web by searching “Dane Davis: Post Scripts: Digidesign.” | Register:
